Ultimate Frisbee has a lineage that can be traced back to the mid 1950s. The Frisbee first hit stores in 1955 and was a popular toy but by 1964 the first professional model was introduced and soon changed the way the world saw the great Frisbee.
A few years later a group of New Jersey high school students invented Ultimate Frisbee, a now recognized sport that combines that aspects of basketball, soccer and football into one exciting game.
In 1976 Ed Hendrick founded the game of disc golf and he now owns the Disc Golf Association and estimates there are over two million players located in the US.
Although the Frisbee name has stayed the same the product has morphed from toys to professional golf discs.
